104-year-old Dorothy Hoffner from Chicago just proved that age is just a number. Ms. Hoffner jumped out of a plane and became one of the oldest people to go skydiving on Sunday. However, the Guinness World Records verification is still pending.
The centenarian ditched her walker and hopped on a plane, took a leap of faith and went skydiving.
“It’s fun, and it seemed so nice and peaceful to come down with a parachute on top of you,” Ms. Hoffner said. CNBC Make it. “You can see the whole landscape; it was so beautiful.”
Skydive Chicago uploaded the video of Ms. Hoffner attempting to break the skydiving record. The caption read: “It was great to help our 104 year old friend Dorothy Hoffner attempt to become the OLDEST PERSON in the world to EVER skydive! She reminded us all last Sunday that age is just a number and that the beauty of life is just a leap away.”

This wasn’t her first time skydiving. On her 100th birthday, she had her first skydiving experience. Four years later, she wanted to do it again because she was pushed off the plane when she really wanted to lead the way, the media reported.
She said: ‘When we reached the height [and] we went out, we all got up, went past the door, just stuck our feet out and left the plane. It was amazing.”
According to a Skydive Chicago representative, she may soon be named the oldest person to complete a tandem skydive. “If you ever get the chance, do it. It’s not scary,” she said. She will also try a hot air balloon ride.
The record is currently held by a 103-year-old woman.
