Schools in Mumbai remain shut till the year end

MUMBAI: Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) decided that all schools in the Mumbai will remain closed till December 31. Earlier they had permitted school to resume physical sessions for classes IX to XII from November 23 (Monday), but they changed the decision on Friday.

A BMC official stated that after studying example of Delhi where cases had been increasing suddenly again, the BMC decided to keep schools close till the year end for the safety of students, their family members and others.

Recently the school education department had permitted schools to resume physical sessions for classes IX to XII from November 23, but they authorised the local bodies to take final decision on it.

All teachers had to undergo a RT-PCR test, be negative for Covid-19 and parents consent was mandatory for students to be sent to school.

School education minister, Varsha Gaikwad said, “We have allowed schools to reopen from November 23 but it would be up to local bodies to take a decision on reopening based on the on-ground situation. If physical classes don’t resume in places, online learning will continue. The health and safety of students and teachers are top priority.”

Odisha: Application invited for three vice-chancellor posts

Bhubaneswar: The higher education department on Wednesday issued notification for appointment of vice-chancellor of Sambalpur University, Ravenshaw University and Odisha State Open University. Eligible candidates need to submit applications for these posts by December 21.

The applicant should be a distinguished academician of proven academic and administrative excellence with a minimum 10 years of experience as professor in a university system or 10 years in an equivalent position in reputed research and/or academic organisation.

For Sambalpur University and Ravenshaw University, tenure of the VCs will be four years from the date he/she assumes office or till he/she attains 67 years of age, whichever is earlier. For Odisha State Open University, tenure of VC is three years and age limit is 65 years.

Shortlisted candidates will be called for an interview (to be held at Bhubaneswar in physical mode) by a three-member search committee. After interview, the committee will recommend three candidates to the chancellor of the universities who will select one of them for appointment as vice-chancellor.

Governor Ganeshi Lal on Monday selected VCs for six universities. Sabita Acharya, a professor of anthropology in Utkal University, got selected as vice-chancellor of Utkal University. He appointed Aparajita Chowdhury as vice-chancellor of Rama Devi Women’s University.

Dinabandhu Sahoo, a botany professor in Delhi University, was selected as the new vice-chancellor of Fakir Mohan University. N Nagaraju, an English professor from Central University of Karnataka, got the assignment of Gangadhar Meher University vice-chancellor.

Kishore Kumar Basa, a retired professor of University of Culture and Tagore national fellow, got selected as vice-chancellor of North Odisha University. Prafulla Kumar Mohanty, a zoology professor in Utkal University became the vice-chancellor of Khallikote University.

SSC Stenographer exam date rescheduled, check here

NEW DELHI: The Staff Selection Commission has postponed the Stenographer Grade C and D examination 2019. The candidates who have applied for the Stenographer Grade ‘C’ and ‘D’ Examination can visit the official portal of the Commission — ssc.nic.in — to check and download the new schedule.

Earlier, the SSC Stenographer exam was scheduled to be held from December 24 to 30, however, it will now be held from December 22 to 24. The notice released on the official website reads ““The candidates of Stenographer Grade ‘C’ and ‘D’ Examination, 2019 are hereby informed that the Computer Based Examination earlier scheduled from 24.12.2020 to 30.12.2020 will now be conducted from 22.12.2020 to 24.12.2020.”

NEW DELHI: The government of India, Madhya Pradesh Postal Circle has declared the Gramin Dak Sevak (GDS) result on its official website.

The candidates who have appeared for the MP GDS recruitment process can visit the official website of AP Post — appost.in — to check and download their result.

The result notification reads “The Selection is based on the merit of the candidates with reference to the post applied. The selection is subject to verification of original certificates and acceptance by the respective Recruiting Authority only.”

The candidates can check their MP post office GDS results either from the official website or from the direct link provided below. (Select the link which reads “Madhya Pradesh (2834 Posts)” under the ‘Result Released’ tab)
