HYDERABAD: Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University-Hyderabad (JNTU-H) will conduct the annual fact finding committee inspections to grant affiliations for the ensuing academic year 2020-21 in December.

Due to the pandemic, the university had decided to grant provisional affiliations to all the colleges that had submitted online application seeking affiliation. The college managements have now been asked to submit an affidavit stating they will comply with all affiliation norms scrupulously, failing which disciplinary action will be initiated against them.

Apart from this, the university has also asked all colleges to sign an undertaking on affiliation fee and common service fee dues by November 2, 2020.

The undertaking states that the managements have no issues if the Telangana State Council of Higher deduct the amount equivalent to the dues towards affiliation and common services fee payable to JNTUH from tuition fee collected from the students admitted during the academic year 2020-21 and transfer it to the JNTUH.

“Provisional affiliation letters for the academic year 2020-21 shall be issued to the colleges subject to submission of undertaking with regard to dues (if any),” reads a circular issued by the JNTUH.

MUMBAI: Higher and technical education minister Uday Samant announced that CET results for all professional courses (engineering, law, B Ed…) conducted by the state’s CET cell will be out by December 5. In his tweet on Thursday, Samant also mentioned that the centralised admission process for all these courses will commence in the first week of December.

Close to 7 lakh students have appeared for entrance exams to 13 undergraduate and postgraduate professional courses conducted by the CET cell, of which nearly 5 lakh are for MHT-CET (engineering, pharmacy) alone. Samant held a meeting with department officials on Thursday.

Meanwhile, the state’s CET cell has written to the All India Council of Technical Education (AICTE), informing it about the delay in starting technical admissions, including engineering, in the state, and has sought time till December-end to complete the process. The council, in its recent directive, had asked all states to wrap up the admission process by December 5 and start the academic session from December 1.

An official, however, said that the government informed the council that it is not in a position to complete the process soon and that colleges can start their session only in January.

Similarly, the state has also sought extension till December 15 from the Council of Architecture to complete architecture admissions in the state. Rajiv Mishra, director, Directorate of Art, said that the council has agreed to give the extension, taking into account the prevailing Covid-19 situation in the state.

UPPSC prelims 2020 revised result declared, check details

Prayagraj: The Uttar Pradesh Public Service Commission (UPPSC) has revised the recently declared results of its Combined State/Upper Subordinate Services (Preliminary) Examination-2020, commonly known as PCS (Pre)-2020.

“The results have been revised following the detection of some anomalies in the results due to technical glitches. The previous results have thus been cancelled,” said UPPSC secretary, Jagdish.

He said the step was necessitated as errors were detected in the results of the posts of labour enforcement officer and child development project officer. The error took place as different serial numbers were indicated in the advertisement and the online application for these two posts, he explained.

Following the revised results, 1,131 candidates who were previously declared successful for the two posts, have failed to make it to the final list of successful candidates. Another 1,481 candidates have been selected in the revised result.

The PCS (Pre)-2020 results were initially declared on November 21. The commission had declared 5,393 candidates successful. As per the revised results, 5,535 candidates have now been declared successful, said UPPSC officials.

The 1,131 candidates, who failed to qualify in the revised results despite initially being declared successful, include 967 who did not meet the eligibility criteria set for the post of child development project officer. Another 139 failed to meet the eligibility criteria for the post of labour enforcement officer, and the remaining 25 candidates could not meet the cut-off, explained the UPPSC officials.

UPPSC had also said that the results of these recruitment exams are subject to the final decision of the Allahabad high court in the special appeal (D) 475/2019 filed by the Uttar Pradesh government.
